Spa & Stay
At Apsara Retreat you have the convenience of a private Day Spa on the premises
Perfectly cosy for 1 to 2 guests, our sunny tiny house is conveniently located next-door to our Spa: slip into your fluffy bathrobes and be pampered and utterly relaxed.
Katoomba is brimming with things to do. Amidst the World Heritage listed Blue Mountains the scenery alone is worth the trip, however, you may want to travel deeper into the wilderness on one of the many bushwalks that range from easy to really, really hard! Whatever the case: you will be rewarded (and can unwind at the Spa!).
Katoomba derived its name from the Darug and Gundungurra words for "shiny, falling waters" - something the region is still well-known for, as 'waterfall chasers' trek around the mountains to photograph our falls that can range from stunning and terrifying after heavy rains, to picturesque grottos with sandy banks perfect for an intimate picnic.
The town is full of good food, coffee, and drinking, and its known for the local music scene. Old fashioned high teas are very popular in the Upper Mountains. Antique, book, and specialty climbing/outdoors shops all make this a remarkably and interesting place to while away your time in the relaxed manner you'll come to associate with our villages up here.
About our Mountain Chalet/Tinyhouse
Apsara Retreat is newly built, offering a rustic mountain charm with lots of timber features and parquetry flooring. There is a lovely large verandah to kick back after a long day of exploring.
The cottage has reverse air conditioning, a small functional kitchen and infinity hot water.
You can expect a coffee pod maker, kettle, microwave, toaster and sandwich maker. We have provided all utensils, cutlery, plates, cups and glasses needed. Linen, towels, bathrobes, extra blankets and hand-body wash as well as shampoo and conditioner are also provided.
The small bathroom is brand new, fully tiled with shower.
Free Wifi is available and we have a smart TV as well as netflixs for our guests. Please bring your own laptop and other devices you enjoy. A few books and games are at hand as well. You find a comprehensive walking trek guide book in the chalet and we have put together a list of suggestions for eating, exploring and entertainment. This is available online through airbnb.
The space
Apsara Retreat is nestled in a quiet garden setting, close to bushwalks, iconic lookouts, Scenic World and just a few minutes by car to Katoomba Village.
A self guided History Walk, park and the local Sports & Aquatic Center with sauna, spa, indoor pool and gym is just a 50 meter walk away. Don't forget to pack your swimmers and gym clothes.
Apsara Retreat would suit the single traveller or a couple who are looking for a tranquil Katoomba base, close to Scenic World, outlooks, bush tracks and Katoomba main town to explore the upper Blue Mountains.
Apsara Day Spa Katoomba is a bespoke boutique spa located on the premises.
Please check availabilities direct online as spa treatments are subject to availability and weekends are usually booked out.
Guest access
We provide self check in with a key safe.
Parking is just outside the front of the property. We have a wide front area for parking. Alternatively, there is the Aquatic Center car park just across the street.
Other things to note:
We do have two dogs who are very friendly, but are mostly inside.
Carlos (aka "Sir Eatalot") and Shadow the smaller yellow dog are always happy to receive pats.
If you are apprehensive with dogs, please let us know in advance. Our family lives in the front house, but your mini chalet is totally separate with it's own entrance and space.
Please be aware we have a non-smoking policy in or around our mini chalet for the comfort and health of all our guests.
The mountain weather is temperamental, you sometimes can expect all seasons in one day.
Think dressing in layers for outdoors. It might be hot in Sydney, but here it's cooler.
I recommend to bring comfortable warm clothes, a rain jacket and hiking boots or at least enclosed shoes.
We can also provide gift vouchers for accommodation (2 nights minimum), spa treatments with champagne or wine are also optional.
